VTU-20 Utilities

The uAvionix VTU-20 is an FAA-approved ADS-B Vehicle Movement Area Transmitter (VMAT). It mounts onto airport ground vehicles to broadcast their exact, real-time location to air traffic control towers and nearby aircraft, which helps prevent runway accidents and improves overall airfield safety.

The PingBootFlasher is a PC-based software utility created by uAvionix used to update the firmware, install software patches, and reflash the bootloader on various uAvionix avionics, radios, and command-and-control hardware (such as the VTU-20, SkyLink, and MicroLink systems). Some of its core functions include its ability to install firmware udpates onto connected uAvionix hardware via a serial or COM port connection. Also, it allows users to re-flash or unbrick devices that have lost their operational software or require a clean bootloader re-installation. And additionally, allows users to manage safe data transfer speeds and protocols (like GDL90 or MAVLink serial settings) during the flashing process.

The VTU-20 Installer is a software configuration utility by uAvionix used to set up, configure, and manage VTU-20 Vehicle Movement Area Transmitters (VMATs). These hardware units are ADS-B transmitters mounted on airport ground vehicles to give air traffic control real-time surface visibility Some of its core functions includes allowing technicians to assign and program specific Vehicle IDs and 24-bit ICAO IDs into the hardware, as well as uploading and managing FAA-approved squitter transmission maps that automatically turn vehicle transmissions on or off depending on their exact airfield location. The Installer also allows users to maintain system settings and configuration parameters during on-site maintenance or deployment across airport fleets.
