AV-30-C ForeFlight Autopilot Integration
NOTE: Set up your autopilot to follow your ForeFlight Flight plan from your iPad.
In this demonstration video created by uAvionix Customer Support, to receive visual instructions on how to set up Autopilot. We demonstrate how to configure the AV-30-C to provide ForeFlight-based guidance to compatible Trio, TruTrak, and S-TEC autopilot systems. Once ForeFlight integration is configured, route changes made directly within ForeFlight can be sent to the AV-30-C and followed by your autopilot, simplifying VFR navigation and flight plan management.
First, you're going to confirm everything from video one about the ForeFlight connection and your flight plan functions. This is where we left the video where we added our own waypoint (see part 1 YouTube Video: AV-30-C ForeFlight Integration Initial Setup OR support article: ForeFlight Integration Initial Setup).
We will begin by preparing the setup, set up the autopilot on the AV-30.
- Press and hold the middle knot (PUSH-SET) to change views.
- Set the altitude.
- Press left button to select “Edit Fields, Select Field.”
- Rotate knob to select left or right “Field” (information) box.
- Press know 1X to select the field (box), then rotate knob to “SALT.”
- Press center knob (PUSH-SET) to make selection.
- Press left button to select “Exit” and complete action.
Our autopilot gets its GPS from our GPS-175, so make sure that you're getting that information or however you have that autopilot set up. The main difference that you're going to do once the autopilot is enabled, is get into the set altitude (SALT). If you're going to be climbing or descending, make sure that is set by the push set menu. We will pull our heading bug back in the direction we're going, make sure the source select is ForeFlight, and confirm the set altitude is correct. in this feature right here and we're going to change it over to ForeFlight.
Once that happens, you're going to see the autopilot start turning to the waypoint that you have set in ForeFlight. That's how easy it is to set up ForeFlight with your autopilot. Follow these steps below:
- Press middle knob (PUSH-SET), then rotate to change HDG BUG.
- Press middle knob 3X to verify if ForeFlight is selected as the source.
- Press middle knob 1X once more to see set alt (SALT). Then, press 1X time, to see autopilot set to ForeFlight.
Additionally, the other thing we could do is intercept the autopilot. On the connected iPad, you can adjust the flight path, by dragging the line so that it readjusts. This will give you a new heading.
Moreover, when autopilot is off, we can turn on ForeFlight. Do this by pressing the center (PUSH-SET) know and toggle through the menu until you see “Autopilot” and press know 1X to select ForeFlight.
If you wanted to turn to heading mode, you could go to the last setting on the autopilot and tell it heading mode. But as shown in this demonstrational video, we selected ForeFlight, so it's following ForeFlight. If we wanted to adjust the Heading Bug, you just press and hold the center (PUSH-SET) button, when you're on heading bug and it'll slew it to where we're at. Now will intercept this line.
