How to Change Ownership of the tailBeacon

The aircraft Registration Number (N-number) will automatically follow the FAA registration when it is changed.

If you would like to receive firmware or product update notifications, you can update your contact information using the skyBeacon app:

• Open the skyBeacon App
• Select Registration at the bottom of the screen
• Update:

• Name
• Email
• Phone Number
  (Installer options can be ignored)
  • Press Register at the bottom

Make sure you have an active internet connection when completing registration. You can also update registration information online at the bottom of the uAvionix Support webpage.

When Moving a skyBeacon/tailBeacon to Another Aircraft

Please complete the following steps:

1. Confirm Access Information

• Locate the Passphrase
• If the passphrase is unknown, you will need:
  • Unit Serial Number (S/N)
  • Wi-Fi SSID (Beacon-XXXX)

2. Confirm Software Version

• Verify the unit is updated to software version 1.5.1

3. Configure Aircraft Information
Using the app:

• Enter the new aircraft N-Number
• Enter the correct ICAO Address
• Verify all other configuration settings match the applicable TSO/installation manual requirements

4. Perform Required Functional Testing

• Complete testing to confirm ADS-B Out performance meets 14 CFR §91.227
• Verify the aircraft has had a transponder test within the last 24 months

5. Verify Squawk Detection

• Change the aircraft squawk code and monitor it in the app

If incorrect squawk codes appear or change too quickly:

• Increase the Monitor Threshold

If no squawk code appears:

• Decrease the Monitor Threshold
• The updated squawk should appear within approximately 30 seconds after a change

6. Documentation

• Submit a new FAA Form 337 for the installation on the new aircraft
