Configuration Changes When Connecting the AV-Link to the AV-HSI
Moving the AV-Link from the back of an AV-30 to the AV-HSI requires configuration changes in both the AV-HSI and AV-Link settings. Simply relocating the AV-Link without changing these settings will prevent it from communicating correctly.
1. Configure Serial 4 in the AV-HSI
Using a connected AV-30:
- Open the AV-30 Installation Menu.
- Navigate to AVHSI CFG and press the center knob.
- Navigate to Serial 4.
- Select the appropriate setting:
AV-HSI configuration Serial 4 setting AV-Link only on Serial 4 AV-LINK AV-Link and an AV-30 connected through Serial 4 using pins 8 and 15 AVL+AV30
The AVL+AV30 setting allows Serial 4 to support both the AV-Link and the AV-30 connected through that channel.
2. Update the AV-Link Settings
After configuring Serial 4:
- Power the AV-HSI and AV-Link.
- Connect a computer or tablet to the AV-Link Wi-Fi network.
- Open a web browser and navigate to 192.168.5.1.
- Select Wi-Fi Settings in the lower-left corner.
- Locate the AV-HSI Settings section.
- Specify whether the AV-Link is connected to:
- An AV-HSI without an AV-30 on Serial 4, or
- An AV-HSI with an AV-30 on Serial 4.
- Select Save.
- Power-cycle the AV-30 displays, AV-HSI, and AV-Link.
3. Confirm Communication
After the system restarts, reconnect to the AV-Link Wi-Fi network and verify that the connected AV-30 units and AV-HSI are detected.
Each AV-30 must be running software version 3.0.1 or later to access the AV-HSI configuration menu and communicate through the AV-HSI.
Important: The AV-HSI Serial 4 setting and the selection in the AV-Link web interface must agree. If one is configured for an AV-30 on Serial 4 and the other is not, communication and software updates may not work correctly.
For the latest requirements, refer to the official AV-30 update and AV-Link configuration instructions.
