Battery Fail
If your AV-30 is indicating FAIL on the screen for the battery after install or after sitting for more than 3 months, try the following:
Power on the AV-30 and allow to align and allow the AV-30 to go through the battery TEST.
Repeat the cycling of power up to 15 times. Once it starts to show 0% allow the unit to charge completely until it shows 100%. This may take more than a normal flight. External power may be needed.
*If the battery status shows "FAIL," departure into actual or planned IFR conditions must not be performed.
*If the battery does not charge after these steps, you may need a replacement battery.
The AV-30 has 2 different types of battery.
Type one: Li-Ion (Lithium-Ion) Battery UAV-1003487-001. This type is for:
- AV-30-C p/n UAV-1003429-001 & UAV-1003429-002
- AV-30-E p/n UAV-1004035-001 & UAV-1004035-002
- This is the smaller type of battery as seen in the picture.
- Not interchangeable with the NiMH battery
Type two: NiMH (Nickel Metal-Hydride) Battery UAV-1007531-001. This type is for:
- AV-30-C p/n UAV-1003429-003
- AV-30-E p/n UAV-1004035-003
- This is the larger type of battery as seen in the picture.
- Not interchangeable with the Li-Ion battery.
The NiMH battery is a larger capacity battery. Upgrading from the Li-Ion to the NiMH costs $250. Please submit a support ticket. The unit will need to come back to Manufacturing for update. Request an RMA for return shipment.
