AV-30-C ForeFlight Integration Troubleshooting Common Issues
In this demonstrational video, uAvionix support will review how to troubleshoot some issues that may arise when using the ForeFlight integration.
Issue: “Unable” Message after loading a flight plan – Check the GPS Source
If after you input the flight plan, you have a window pop up that says “unable,” this means that ForeFlight does not have a GPS. Make sure ForeFlight is connected to a GPS source. You will have to have a sentry or a skySensor that provides GPS or another source.
If in the setup menu you have no position available or no flight plan available, then you will need to confirm that you are connected to a GPS source, and that under source, you select ForeFlight.
- Push the left button 2X to reach the SETUP menu.
- Rotate the center PUSH-SET knob until you reach “Wireless GPS,” and verify if ForeFlight is selected. If not, push the knob 1X and rotate to ForeFlight.
- NOTE: The three choices for “Wireless GPS” are GPS, VLOC, and ForeFlight.
- Press left button 1X to select “DONE.”
- Check your settings of your iPhone and iPad. Check ForeFlight by looking at devices and confirm that the GPS source is displayed as well as the AV-link.
- Confirm that the GPS source is displayed as well as the AV-link.
Issue: Not displaying IP Address from iPad
This alert may be displayed if someone else is in the aircraft. Make sure your iPhone, iPad or another device is not connected to ForeFlight. Future updates will have the ability to name your iPad so you don't have to look up the IP address.
If the AV-30-C stops displaying the flight plan information, confirm that the iPad is still running. It should not time out, as long as you have connected and input the flight plan information, it will stay connected and it will continue to display that flight plan.
Issue: IP Address not showing Check whether another device in the aircraft is connected to ForeFlight
Another issue that might come up is if the IP address is not coming up. To find your I{P address, watch our video: AV-30-C ForeFlight Integration Initial Setup or read our Support Article.
Once you find the IP address, then make sure that that's the one that you're connected to.
If you have a flight plan inputted into ForeFlight from your iPad and for some reason your battery dies, this information will continue to be displayed on the AV-30. You will be unable to change it, but it will continue with the flight plan that you have given it. It will continue to show the waypoints and the information until you arrive to your destination.
If for some reason you turned yours off or somebody else connected, and you wish to reconnect, go ahead and open up ForeFlight again and then connect to it again through devices. You'll be able to see that you're connected to the AV-link in the skySensor. And then from there, you'd be able to change your flight plan as desired. Place another waypoint in, so you can see it change the flight plan.
If all troubleshooting doesn't fix your problem, try the following:
- Uninstall ForeFlight and reinstall it.
- Make sure local networks are enabled.
- Place your iPhone or iPad in airplane mode, turn on the Wi-Fi and connect normally to the GPS.
